Dealing with Oppositional Defiant Behavior

Course Goals and Objectives:

  • Participants will increase their knowledge, awareness and understanding of Oppositional Defiant Behavior (ODB)
  • Participants will improve their clinical skills related to working with youth and adults that display ODB
  • Review DSM IV-TR diagnostic criteria related to ODB
  • Identify the connection between cognitive, emotional and behavioral symptoms associated with ODB
  • Review relevant research and evidence based practices related to the treatment of ODB
  • Propose new approaches to be taken by the mental health staff, direct care staff and community members involved with youth and adults that display ODB
